Day 1: Arrival at San Miguel de Tucumán Airport and transfer to Tafí del Valle. Diaguitas aborigins refered to this place as “Splendid Entrance Town” and they were right as it is one of the most paradisiacal destinations in Tucuman Province. Some of the places to visit are the Museum and the jesuit Chapel of La Banda as well as the craft market and restaurant with typical food inside them. Quebradita is an atractive 10 km trail which is ideal for walking, picnics or horse riding with a small hill where a monument to Jesus Christi is located. From this point, the view of the valley is stunning. We´ll arrive at our hotel and rest of the day free to walk around the city. Accomodation at Colonial Hotel or similar.
Day 2: Breakfast. Morning departure to Amaicha del Valle located in the
hillside of the Aconquija on the way to the Calchaqui Valley. It is the only
place in the province where wine is produced by stepping on the grapes. Its
handmade yarns of sheep and camelid wool together with handloom fabrics by
the artisans offer the tourist a variety of: blankets, pullos, tapestries,
bags, shawls, blankets and ponchos. After arriving will visit “Petrona and
her loom”- Weaving in loom: Alicia Fabian will tell us the ancestral
knowledge that is part of her family. Then will head to our hotel where
we´ll enjoy a delicious regional lunch and rest for a while.
At 6.00 pm, we´ll head to vineyard “El Manantial del Totoral”, where we´ll
learn to indentify the local medicinal flora and enjoy a panoramic view of
tertiary geological formations. Presentation and tasting of the wine that
relaxes us with stories of the cultural heritage and the work of the land.
Route distance: 700 meters. Return to the hotel and accomodation.
Day 3: Breakfast. Departurre at 9.00 am for a 3 kilometres low-difficult walk to the artisans´ homes who will tell us all about spinning and weaving on loom, working in the vitiviniculture and making pottery. When we return, we´ll pass the “Crossed Bridge” to enjoy the view of the Calchaqui Mountains while enjoying a drink. Then we will visit "The Vineyard of Cambrocha" where Jorge remembers in the vineyard, the learning from his father, "Cambrocha Lera”. We will learn about the ways and the processes on pruning, the production of artisanal wine, visit the family winery and how the grapevine cycle is made by the indigenous community, ending with a tasting. Lunch. Return to Tafí del Valle and accomodation at Colonial Hotel or similar.
Day 4: After breakfast at the hotel we´ll depart to San Miguel de Tucumán. Upon arrival we´ll go on a city tour visiting the old town. Free afternoon to visit those places of our interest. Accomodation at Hotel Francia or similar.
Day 5: Breakfast at hotel and transfer to the airport.
